The Norfolk Broads – Medieval Man dug for peat to use for fires for over 300 years. In the 14th century these peat holes and corridors flooded and formed todays National Park, brimming with wildlife. There are 7 rivers and over 60 open waters that form The Broads.
The Wherry Boats date back to the 17th century and were designed to navigate the Broads, and to carry cargo, cattle and people. Only 5 Wherry Boats remain. The Albion Wherry is the elegant black sailed boat.
The Broads is a unqiue landscape, providing vital tourism to Norfolk, a fabulous protected haven for wildlife, an abundance of water based activities and a photographers/painters dream. Paddle boarding is proving very popular, especially if you stop at some of the stunning pubs on the way. If you are ever this way, then do not forget your camera!!
