A marauding wild dog like creature that prowls these lands. Some folk believe he is the Devils Dog, as it has red glowing eyes. Legend says that if you encountered Black Shuck and looked into his eyes, then your death will occur within a year.
Or maybe Black Shuck is a Ghost Dog, with a large chain around his neck, howling out to sea, and pacing the shorelines looking out for his Master, who was shipwrecked off Sheringham.
Norfolk Smugglers encouraged these tales of a red eyed Devil dog to keep people away from the coastline at night……….we wonder why??
