Christingle @ St. Walstans Crackle Candle

Christingles are for children to make and take to church during Advent.  The candle represents Christ Light,  the orange is the World.  The red ribbon is Christs shed blood and the dried fruit, Cloves and sweets are all Gods creations.

Christingle services are held in Christian churches all over the world.  St. Walstans Church in Bawburgh, Norfolk brings back wonderful childhood memories of Advent.

St. Walstan………….Patron Saint of Farmers & Farm Animals .

Born in 975AD in Bawburgh, he was an Anglo-Saxon Prince who denounced his wealth at the age of 12 to take up a life of prayer.  He worked as a farm hand in Taverham and many miracles took place around him.  In 1012, An Angel visited him and foretold him his death would be soon.  So he asked for his 2 cows to pull a cart, carrying his body to wherever God ordained.  Water springs appeared along the route from Taverham to Bawburgh.  Today St Walstans Well is located in the church yard in Bawburgh.
